March Roundup: Recommendations from the Badass Women's Book Club
Wondering what all the Badass Women have been reading, watching, doing and listening to? Check out the recommendations below from your fellow Badass Women’s Book Club members!
What We’re Reading…
Anything and everything by Brene Brown – including our November book, Dare to Lead, but also Rising Strong and Daring Greatly – all in preparation for her upcoming Netflix special. Talk about must-see TV!
Speaking of Netflix, Mindy Kaling is getting a new show, too! This one is being billed as a “coming-of-age” comedy series based on her own life as a first-generation Indian American teen. If you want a sneak peek, check out her two books – Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (and Other Concerns) and Why Not Me? Both are so good!
I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by true-crime journalist Michelle McNamara. This book, published after the author’s untimely death at age 46, was the winner of the Goodreads Choice Award for Nonfiction last year. It’s a favorite of our members who love true crime podcasts like My Favorite Murder. (Do you know Karen and Georgia have a book out in May? Preorder Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered now!)
What We’re Watching…
Speaking of mysteries, I can wait to see the new Nancy Drew movie! I loved Nancy Drew when I was growing up – she was definitely the first badass woman book character I remember. Apparently I wasn’t the only badass woman she inspired!
Astronauts reading books in space. Especially when it’s a badass woman astronaut - and she’s reading Rosie Revere, Engineer.
What We’re Doing…
Supporting other women – because there is power in the pack. Check out this blog post for books to share with the women in your pack!
Wondering how early is too early to start teaching about women’s history? Answer: never!
What We’re Listening to…
The Drop Out, a documentary podcast about Theranos founder, Elizabeth Holmes. Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup was a book several of our book club members were reading.
What’s Coming Up
Our April book is Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals by Rachel Hollis. You can get your copy here.
