How to Create a Vision Board for the New Year
I LOVE creating a Vision Board for the new year! It’s just that perfect mix of two of my favorite things – planning and crafting! (But – no fears – no special artistic talent is required!)
For those who are new to the concept of a Vision Board – it’s a visual reminder of what you want to focus on and accomplish in the year ahead. It’s low pressure – but high return!
Here’s how to do it –
STEP 1. Gather your supplies. The basics are paper (for the board – see below), glue, scissors, and magazines. I am a magazine addict, so I have piles and piles of them but if you only want to invest in one or two, I recommend O, The Oprah Magazine and Real Simple.
As for the type of paper for the board, I tend to like a colorful piece of cardstock. It is sturdy enough to handle all the gluing and the color fills in some of the background. As for size, I like 12 x 12 - big enough to display larger pictures, but not too big that you never fill it up.
STEP 2. Create a list of goals you’d like to achieve. These can be personal, professional or both.
STEP 3. Find pictures in the magazines that represent your goals or symbolize the future you wish to create.
STEP 4. Make a collage of these images on your board. Get creative!
STEP 5. Add motivational affirmation words and inspiring quotes that represent how you want to FEEL, like “BRAVE”, “CREATIVE”, “INSPIRED”.
STEP 6. Post your board somewhere where you will see it every day. Take a few moments to review it every day and let it inspire your thoughts and actions.
