Summer Travel: But make it bookish

I made a quick trip to the North Carolina Outer Banks a few weeks ago. It was actually a perfect time to visit – not too hot and not too crowded! Of course, I had to add a trip to the local bookstore to my itinerary!

The Island Bookstore has several locations in the area – I visited the one in Corolla. It was everything you’d want a beach bookstore to be – lots of summer reads, a variety of local authors and local tales (so many books about Virginia Dare and the Lost Colony!), and a vibrant children’s section with some cool art supplies!  But it also had an impressive collection of other topics as well!

If you have some travel planned for this summer, check out all of my bookstore-focused travel guides: beach town bookstores, bookstores in college towns, and bookstores owned by women authors.

This next spot has been on my bucket list for a while – I hope to be able to visit this fall!

The Bookhouse Hotel is a bookstore brought back to life as a boutique hotel! Located in downtown Kennett Square, PA It’s a four-room boutique hotel that houses over 5,000 books!  The rooms look so charming!  I think they have plans for a second location coming soon!

Speaking of hotels with libraries, I came across this article that features some amazing places!

And if you will be traveling internationally this summer, you may want to plan a visit to one of these beautiful libraries!

Wherever you go and whatever you do – even if it’s just relaxing by the pool or under the air conditioner – I hope you have plenty of good reads!  Here are the ones I’ll be diving into!
