Where to Be and What to See: New Orleans
New Orleans knows how to throw a party, and hosting Super Bowl LIX was no exception! On February 9, 2025, the city once again proved why it’s one of the best Super Bowl hosts in history! But if you think the celebrations stop there, think again—because it’s almost time for the biggest show of all: Mardi Gras! This year, Fat Tuesday lands on March 4, 2025, but the parades, costumes, and all-around revelry are already in full swing. There’s truly no place like New Orleans when it comes to letting loose, embracing creativity, and celebrating life.
Check out my top badass, women-led spots that capture the Too Much spirit! Whether you're shopping, crafting, dining, or book browsing, these places should be on your list:
✨ Fleurty Girl – A New Orleans staple, this shop (founded by local entrepreneur Lauren LeBlanc) is packed with fun, NOLA-inspired tees, accessories, and home goods that let you take a little piece of the city’s spirit home with you.
🎭 NOLA Craft Culture – If you’re feeling crafty, this is your spot! This woman-owned store is a glitter-covered dreamland full of supplies for making Mardi Gras costumes, throws, and more. The staff is passionate about keeping the city’s DIY parade traditions alive—so don’t be shy about asking for tips!
🍽️ Mosquito Supper Club – Looking for an unforgettable meal? Chef Melissa Martin’s Mosquito Supper Club offers a deep dive into Louisiana’s coastal cuisine, served up family-style with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It’s as much a celebration of community as it is about food.
📚 Blue Cypress Books – A cozy, independent (woman-owned!) bookstore, this is the perfect spot to browse new and used books (including plenty of local authors!). If you love literary gems, this place is a must-visit. Plus it’s the home of one of my favorite badass books club – The Book Easy!
